'POP! ZINE FAIR' on Kingston University!

What an -amazing- day we had on Friday at Knights Park campus! What happened? We at BA Graphic Design, 1st years, arranged our first Zine fair - and what a fair! The theme was 'party' and it was called 'POP!' With a huge bunch of helium balloons, a candy floss machine, nail polishing and a big group of excited graphics students this fair was just as awesome as it could be - or actually, I think it went beyond all our expectations!

The awesome, pink candy floss machine!

And the nailpolishing station :)

A copy of each of our zines were layed out on tables (and some were hanging in the balloons) for everyone to see and read.

Me and Hamish Ryde next to our zines: 'Killing time'

 Woohoo!

The money we earned from the sales of zines, candy floss and nail polishing is going to be used for our final year show.

Layors of wire

While procrastinating (I think I can be excused as long as it is related to art and design..) I was introduced to this amazing artist.

Korean based artist Seung Mo Park works with wires and creates photographic art pieces that, for me, takes photography to a new level. By working with layored wire (with only few centimeters apart), he cuts out bits by bits to bring out the lighter parts, and from that create depth.
Although he uses a projection of the image he’s trying to replicate, as reference, the precision with which he cuts each little piece of wire mesh is nothing short of impressive.
Wow.

Uni Project: Mother Of All Plans

A one-week project based on the saying "Mother of all...".
With the focus on one person in our group, Gabi, we decided to create the 'Mother of all plans'. A plan for the rest of her life. It begins with the day we had the critique and moves towards her calculated date of death (a calculation you too can do online).

Being the mother of all plans, it wasn't enough to just realise and connect her personal goals; we would also have to think about all the other potential outcomes. And we didn't just want to plan all the possibilities but went beyond this to look at the consequences of those paths and being the angels that we are, tried to find a way to bring Gabi back to her main goals, even when she strayed off. This became the final outcome. (click on the images to enlarge them)

Let the cows decide!

A campaign from a while ago that won Gold in 'Visuelt 2011' last year in Norway (advertising competition) for best campaign/branding.
Very charming and a lovely idea. Just watch.

Dance your feet (toes?) off

The first time I saw this piece I automatically cringed my toes. But I do love it though.

Feel free and yellow..

Free your.. eeerhm.. emotions!! Or wait.. food? Food poisoning..? Love? Heavy butterflies? Opening up to others..?

Either ways: Interesting use of a material we all know so well (or, to those who actually have been a kid) and put it into really well made art.

I have always found those lego sculptures you see in toy stores fascinating, but this is taking it to a whole new level.

Let's clean up this mess!

Ursus Wehrli from Switzerland thinks that a lot of art could have been more organised. He has therefor tied up some of them in his very own way.
Quite funny that he acts as a rebel with art by doing the opposite of disorder.
Watch. (And just ignore his breathing...)
